Pete Dolphin – is a legendary showman in the world of kiting, known as much for his theatrical flair as his technical mastery. From costumed performances that turned kite routines into storytelling spectacles to his iconic creations like the Rainbow Arch and Soul Train, Pete has transformed fields into stages and kites into characters. A multi-time kite making national champion, former AKA president, and international ambassador for kites, Pete’s exuberance and creativity have made him one of the most photographed and beloved figures in kite flying history.

Beyond the field, Lee’s legacy lives on through decades of mentorship, inspiring generations of kite flyers to take their skills—and imaginations—to new heights.

Torrey Lindemann – is an innovative sport kite flyer whose precision and artistry have earned national titles and captivated audiences across the country. Known for dynamic performances at events like Kites on Ice and on Broadway, Torrey brings theatrical energy and technical finesse to every flight. Today, Torrey is recognized for mentoring new flyers and sharing a deep love of the sport on the demo field and local fun flys, helping others discover the thrill and beauty of kites.

Brett Volland – is a beloved local kite flyer and retired middle school teacher whose passion for flight is matched only by his gift for teaching. On the demo field, Brett patiently guides flyers of all ages through the art of sport kiting, turning first-time jitters into confident smiles. He’s best known as the coach of the Flying Mantas, the largest youth kite team in the United States, where his mentorship has launched not just kites—but a whole generation of young flyers.

Kevin Bayless – is a master kite maker whose bold, large-scale designs have become staples of Florida’s skies and beyond. Known for his vibrant patchwork layouts and kinetic artistry, Kevin’s creations—especially his towering bols and banners—turn kite fields into immersive, color-drenched experiences.  Based in Florida, Kevin has spent decades refining his craft, blending engineering precision with visual drama. His work includes limited-edition Revolution kites, each sewn and signed as a true work of art, and his installations at events like Treasure Island’s Kite Festival are unforgettable spectaclesYouTube. Whether lifting spirits or lifting massive sails, Kevin’s kites are unmistakable expressions of joy, movement, and imagination.
